What qualification to work in a nursery?

To work in a nursery in Luxembourg, many diplomas and fields are possible. 
Early childhood professions include: the carer, the educator.
 
In Luxembourg, these two professions carry out the same tasks together: reception, care and educational support. 

 

The diploma of life assistant to work in a nursery

The carer holds a diploma recognized by the Ministry as equivalent to the level of carer. For this, a diploma equivalence request must be submitted to the competent Ministry. 
Her role in the nursery is to take care of the children.

The auxiliary takes care of all the care (change, toilets, nose and hand washing, etc.), meals and naps. He constantly monitors the hygiene and comfort of the children in order to promote their development. 

Like the educator, the carer offers educational and fun activities throughout the day. It must also accompany your children in their motor skills and free play. His profession is focused on development, psychology and education. His daily and benevolent accompaniment ensures the development of the personality of the little one. He is also the guarantor of the good health and safety of the children at the nursery.

The educator's diploma to work in a nursery

The educator holds either a Luxembourg educator diploma or a diploma recognized as equivalent to the educator diploma in Luxembourg (training certificate and equivalence of diploma as an educator in Luxembourg required). To do this, you must apply for diploma recognition with the competent Ministry. Certain foreign diplomas give access to this profession in Luxembourg. 

This is the case, for example, of the French Early Childhood Educator (EJE) diploma, which is currently recognized as equivalent to the educator diploma in Luxembourg. EJE trainees learn their job during various internships in hospitals, nurseries or kindergartens. Their training alternates periods of training and periods of study.
Their professional experience thus acquired in the early childhood sector is essential to best prepare them for the reality of their future employment.

You can also work in a nursery as a nurse. To do this, you must hold a state nursing diploma, which is obtained after 3 years of study.

The nursery nurse is the medical referent for the children. He is responsible for good hygiene practices for care and premises and for the food safety of children.

The nurse follows each child medically and works together with the nursery's referring doctor.

Time for discussion and entertainment can be organized with families to make them aware of certain topics: food, toothbrushing, sleep, etc.

If necessary, the nurse sets up an Individualized Care Project (PAI) for the child.
 

Kindergarten management jobs

You can work in a nursery in the field of management first as a deputy manager, then as a manager.
To access these functions, those in charge of nursery management have a diploma recognized by the Ministry as equivalent to an educator's diploma. It is also necessary to have 3 years of experience in order to be able to access this position. 

They generally start out as assistants before progressing to a management position. Their role is to manage the educational teams, to manage the reception structure and to welcome the child and his family. On a daily basis, he builds the working atmosphere and dynamics in his team of early childhood professionals.

He develops the nursery's educational project, together with his teams. The manager is therefore the guarantor of compliance with this project and the activities implemented in the nursery.

He must maintain good communication with the parents. He works with them for the educational and social development of their child.

The manager or deputy manager must therefore demonstrate autonomy, dynamism and inventiveness. The qualities of listening and benevolence are essential to exercise this profession. He must also know how to adapt and be proactive.
