How to terminate a nursery contract?

Do you change your address, lose your job or want to change nursery? You must therefore end your contract with your nursery in Luxembourg.

To end it, you will need to write a termination letter. Find below our advice in order to respect the conditions of termination that you signed at the time of registration.

 

Terminate a nursery contract by letter

To terminate your contract private nursery, you will have to write a letter in which you announce your departure. This letter will then be sent by registered mail with acknowledgment of receipt or delivered by hand to the manager of the structure hosting your child.

Be sure to announce your departure 60 days before the end of the last month of reception. In the event of a shorter period, the following month would be invoiced to you.

If you have to leave your nursery place within a shorter period of time, contact your adviser KidsCare or the director of the nursery. We may reduce the period of notice in certain cases of force majeure.

 

Reasons for terminating the contract

Parents will be asked to mention the reasons for breaking the nursery contract in the letter.

This reason can be very varied: a move from home far from the city of the reception structure, the child's failure to adapt to the nursery, financial difficulties, loss of a job, maternity or parental leave , an event tainting the relationship between the parents and the educational team, a long illness, a change of nursery closer to the place of residence or the place of work.

Entry into kindergarten for your child

Starting kindergarten is not one of the reasons for termination mentioned above.

Indeed, the termination is tacit on August 31 of the year during which your child reaches the age to enter school (unless otherwise stated).

You therefore do not have to take any steps to terminate your contract with the nursery. This will naturally end either at the end of the nursery year, or during the summer.

If you need a few days of care because you return to work before the start of the school year, find out from the director of your nursery. Your child can still be welcomed before entering kindergarten.

If you need to have your child looked after after school hours or at lunchtime, turn to our day centers dedicated to accompany your children from 4 to 12 years old.

 

How to write the termination letter?

Your termination letter should be addressed to the director of the nursery Kidscare where your child is accommodated. You will clearly mention his surname, first name and date of birth.

Then, explain the reason for your termination request and mention the notice period.

Finally, your letter must indicate a specific date of the end of the contract, providing for the notice period.
