For cross-border parents working in Luxembourg, access to a nursery is an excellent way to reconcile their professional and family life. Unlike French nurserys, Luxembourg nurserys welcome children from 0 to 4 years old. They provide a safe and welcoming environment.

The procedures for obtaining a place in daycare in Luxembourg are relatively simple, although demand can be high due to the increasing number of cross-border workers wanting a place for their child.

If you wish to obtain a place in a municipal nursery, you must contact the municipal administration. Each municipality may have its own admission criteria and conditions, so it is recommended to check with the municipality concerned.

Cross-border parents who wish to obtain a place in one of the nurserys KidsCare must provide the following documents:

  • an income certificate established by the Administration of Direct Contributions (ACD),
  • the parents' employment contract(s),
  • recent household composition.
     

Then, if you are a couple - married, civil partnership, cohabiting - you must also provide the following documents:

  • the most recent tax slip for the household,
  • if you reside in France, a tax declaration notice,
  • all other potential documents documenting income received outside Luxembourg (compensation or RSA for example).

 

If you are separated or divorced, you must provide us with:

  • a tax slip,
  • the extract from the divorce judgment with the child custody arrangements,
  • proof of payment of child support - which is necessary for the CSA.

The Ministry of Education contributes financially up to a maximum of 60 hours per week, at a rate of €6 per hour for collective structures. In addition, the state covers a maximum of five meals per week. All other expenses are the responsibility of the household.
